On CSPAN the other day a political scientist gave a lecture on political candidates as engineers or architects. He went through the list of candidates and labeled them accordingly. He, of course, labeled Hillary as the engineer and Obama as the architect.
Here is a clip that highlights the difference between those roles.
Putting politics aside, I find the engineer role much more attractive. I like details and specifics over the empty rhetoric of change.
My main critique of Edwards is he has been more of an architect than an engineer. He talks a lot of populist rhetoric, yet thus far has been unwilling to take the great leap forward with policies that will create real change.
